Pavel Mazaev is a Senior Developer in Yandex, where he works in the embedded voice activation team. That team’s main responsibility are smooth activation and quick reaction of Yandex Smart Speakers. Pavel works on the device-oriented utterance detection problem, to enable human level interaction with the smart devices, without adjusting the speech patterns.

This problems is adjacent to keyword spotting, ASR and natural language understanding. The prior areas of interest include machine translation and bayesian inference.

Pavel is a bachelor’s and a master’s degrees from the Lomonosov Moscow State University.
